Frequently Asked Questions

Grass Bag Maintenance

Q. My grass bags don’t seem to fill as well as they did when new. Can this be corrected?

A: Yes. Grass and debris movement is a factor of engine speed and ground travel speed. Always operate with the engine running at its maximum governed RPM. Regulate operating control with ground speed. When the grass is high, the ground speed may have to be slowed. Make sure the bottom of the deck is cleaned regularly. In lush or wet conditions, this may have to occur hourly! Grass allowed to build-up under the deck will effect grass flow through the blower, into the bags. Make sure the bags are washed regularly to keep the weave open and breathing. Bags that get plugged with dirt and grass will not allow air to vent through them, restricting how well the bags fill. Stretched or damaged gearbox drive and blower belts will slip causing bag filling complaints. Make sure belts are in good condition, and are adjusted according to procedures found in the operator’s manual.
