Frequently Asked Questions
Parking Brakes not Functioning
Q: My EverRide mower can be moved easily when the engine is shut off, the control levers are in neutral, and the parking brakes are disengaged. Is this normal?
A: Yes. EverRide mower hydraulic pumps have special shock valves that will lessen the possibility of damage from hydraulic system pressure spikes. These spikes can occur when the unit experiences a sudden or partial stop from hitting a curb, encountering a tree root, catching on a post, etc. Each shock valve has an orifice which allows some oil "bleed by" when the unit is moved while shut off.
However, if the unit NEEDS to be moved for some reason, the bypass valve on each pump MUST BE OPENED to avoid damaging the pumps when the unit is moved with no power. The unit should NEVER be pushed or towed with another powered vehicle under any circumstances.
